Chris Quinn is right - this is sickening.
According to the New York Daily News, the attack occurred on March 2 at 12:50 a.m. while the 32-year-old Latino man walked on Luquer Street in the Carroll Gardens section of Brooklyn. He was leaving a gay party at a bar."The attackers, who were also Latinos, called the victim a 'f----t' and punched him numerous times in the face, knocking him down and causing him to suffer a gash on the back of his head, police sources said," according to the Daily News.
The attackers, who wore dark clothing, remain at large. It is not clear whether they knew the victim, who was treated at a local hospital.
I do wonder about the media's choice not to print the word "faggot." I'm as offended by it as the next guy - on a personal and political level - but I'm not sure the best choice is to refuse to print it, as if it didn't exist. Does the media have a responsibility to shock the public a bit by being honest about what was said?
