This is such a sad story. The Department of Buildings has warned all residents of the 37 story tower to stay off their balconies until further notice. Does this mean the building was maintained poorly? In any case, its sad to see someone's life cut short.
Connor Donohue plummeted 24 stories in the tragic accident Sunday morning at his apartment building at E. 39th St. and First Ave., officials said...
Heartbroken friends of Donohue, 24, mourned the loss of the selfless young man who had dedicated his life to helping the disadvantaged and destitute. Until last month, Donohue worked as dean of students for Prep for Prep, a nonprofit Manhattan group that identifies promising minority students and prepares them for private school.
"He was the type of person who when you met him, you knew you'd know him the rest of your life. He was such a loyal friend," said a pal. "He was just an amazing guy, always whistling and singing."
Update: Landlord failed to get a required balcony inspection, and the Buildings Dept let them get away with it for years.
